About Walla Walla Real Estate

Walla Walla Real Estate was first conceptualized in 1998 by John and Sandi Boone. The idea was to create an online FSBO (for sale by owner) real estate marketplace where buyers and sellers could find one another without the assistance of a middleman, thus lowering the costs associated with agency-based real estate.

Still relatively early in the Internet age, it was an idea whose time had come. (Back then, in 1998, only one local real estate company had a Web site, and it didn’t have any online listings.) We believed in our idea, and we had high hopes for immediate success.

After several months of design and construction, the Web site http://www.wallawallarealestate.net went live in early 1999, to practically no fanfare whatsoever. In fact, as far as we could tell, no one really paid any attention at all. The occasional Web page hit trickled in every so often. Our business phone rang once or twice a week, usually due to telemarketing. No one was beating down the door to sign up for a listing package.

For a while, it was pretty gloomy around the office.

In order to stir up some interest, John Boone hit the streets with a digital camera and began offering online FSBO services, for free, to anyone who was interested. Within a month or two we had somewhere around twenty listings. That’s when things started to pick up.

People began calling us and setting up appointments. People began paying for our services. Our number of online properties kept increasing. And, best of all, these properties began selling like hotcakes.

Jump to the present, and Walla Walla Real Estate is the most visited local real estate site in the greater Walla Walla area, with more than 25,000 visitors every month from all over the world. (We’ve been the most popular real estate site in the valley for more than five years running!)

In 2003, we successfully marketed approximately 20 million dollars worth of local real estate. In 2004, it was more than 30 million. In 2005, it was more than 36 million. Since our inception, more than two hundred million dollars worth of local real estate has sold off of our site, saving local buyers and sellers around twelve million dollars in commission fees. We’re proud of that achievement.
